the sabbath on the road

While driving up the 5 fwy and approaching the San Diego Temple Nathan quickly blurted out "can we go see it?" Were we really going to say no? Could we? Of course not. So we stopped by to walk around the grounds and feel the peace and tranquility that temple grounds have to offer. Since it was Sunday it was nice and quiet. There were a few other people walking around taking pictures but we pretty much had to place to ourselves.

We walked around to the grassy side of the temple and were admiring all of the beauty when we realized that Nathan got away from us and ran out onto the big grassy field. We yelled (had to yell as the freeway was feet away) and told him to come back up with us. It looked like he was going to obey but took a little detour under the area we were standing on and ran to an adjacent grass area right next to the temple. See below.

He seemed to be loving the fact that he had this "heaven" all to himself. I looked at him, he looked up at me and it was as though i could read his mind. I quickly shouted "don't you dare roll down that hill!"

you can only imagine what happened next... Yep you guessed it - he rolled down the Temple lawn! Yelling, laughing and enjoying every second of it.

We finally got him to come back up with us and we decided it was time to leave. I was just glad that the temple was closed and that he didn't make it into the background of any wedding pictures. How nice would that have been to see a little monkey rolling down the hill in the background of your wedding portraits.

I've heard of and participated in the "reverent swim" is there such a thing as the "reverent roll"?

That is so funny. I thought only 3 year olds ran away. I'm glad to know it never ends. I bet that looked so funny.
